The Elephant Queen is a 2018 documentary film directed by Victoria Stone and Mark Deeble. The movie follows Athena, a mother elephant who will do everything in her power to protect her herd when they are forced to leave their waterhole. This epic journey, narrated by Chiwetel Ejiofor, takes audiences across the African savannah and into the heart of an elephant family. A tale of love, loss, and coming home.

At the 2019 Critics' Choice Movie Awards, The Elephant Queen was nominated for Best Science/Nature Documentary and Best Narration.

Our engagement

In addition to supporting production, we support an outreach program across Kenya through “The Elephant Queen Mobile Cinema Tour”. As part of the tour, 28 learn-to-read books series based on characters from the film will be created and distributed to schools across the country. There will also be a series of children’s plays, short videos, and other activities available only on site.

All these are part of a literacy initiative that will engage hundreds of schools and a dozen community outreach groups in Kenya to push the conservation message of the movie to the young generation.
