Tackling the challenges of food waste and food security while creating sustainable livelihoods for smallholder farmers is what founder of LEAF, Vijay Vijayaraghavan, has made his life’s mission.

LEAF has become the leading fresh produce provider in Southern India by creating a tech-enabled, end-to-end cold-chain, providing reliable and fair margins for farmers, value-added services for retailers, and safe products for consumers.

By working from farm gate to shop shelves, LEAF provides end-customers with traceability. The margins gained by efficiencies is shared with farmers and consumers.

The produce is sourced from thousands of farmers, who receive farming inputs on credit, as well as training on good farming practices, which increases their yield and revenue streams.

Coupled with an end-to-end-cold chain, these activities drastically help to tackle the challenges of food waste and food security.

Our engagement

Our journey with LEAF began in 2017 in their Series B raise, joined by other impact investors. Navigating in an unpredictable environment, come rain or shine, LEAF’s continued impact on the livelihoods of smallholder farmers has been unwavering. We look forward to continuing our engagement with LEAF as they lead the way in reducing food waste and increasing food security.
