AfroWema is a high-end fashion brand redefining African heritage through contemporary design. Founded in 2023 by Tatiana Teixeira, the brand partners with artisans from Kibera, Kenya, and across Africa to craft fashion that fuses aesthetics with social impact.
This year, AfroWema was selected to showcase at Africa Fashion Week in London 2025. With the support of the Bestseller Foundation. The collection was made with upcycled denim sourced from BESTSELLER Foundation’s sorting and collection pilot with Mr. Green Africa in Nairobi emphasizing the importance of collaboration and how waste can be turned into design.
Beyond designing collections, Afro Wema engages locals tailor and conducts workshops to foster a community-driven approach to fashion by providing sewing and vocational training.
All items are handmade in Kenya, and AfroWema prides itself on crafting original clothes and accessories using a variety of local materials. The brand is invested in upcycling and breathing new life into second hand materials.
