In the wake of the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar on 28 March, causing widespread damage and casualties, we are providing critical assistance to children and their families. The earthquake's epicenter was outside Mandalay, Myanmar's second-largest city, prompting a state of emergency in six regions of the country.
"The earthquake has upended lives across Myanmar, a valued part of the wider BESTSELLER community, and our urgent support is needed to respond to critical needs. Children are extremely vulnerable in crises like this due to the loss of parents and caregivers, and the destruction of schools and familiar places, all of which can have long-term mental health effects on their well-being,” says Line Boss, Impact Director at BESTSELLER Foundation.
The Foundation will be sharing the donation through the international children’s organisation Save the Children. The organisation anticipates that the immediate and long-term needs will include access to safe shelter, food, clean water, healthcare, and education among other necessities.
Save the Children has been working in Myanmar since 1995, providing life-saving healthcare, food and nutrition, education and child protection programmes.
